Hands-on Data Governance Analyst working across governance, analytics, technology, and business stakeholders.
The role is practical and operational, combining stakeholder conversations, data definitions, data quality, metadata, SQL analysis, reporting, and governance processes.
Responsibilities
- Establish data definitions, ownership, standards, and usage; maintain glossaries, dictionaries, metadata, and governance documentation.
- Investigate and help remediate data quality issues; validate business rules, completeness, consistency, and accuracy using SQL or similar tools.
- Translate business needs into measurable rules; support access, sharing, and usage governance.
- Maintain governance and data quality reports, dashboards, and metrics; improve workflows and reduce manual processes.
- Communicate findings and help move governance initiatives into repeatable operations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field required; advanced degree preferred.
- Approximately 2–5 years of experience in data governance, data analytics, business/data analysis, or a related discipline.
- Experience with stakeholders, data owners, or technical teams; working knowledge of governance, quality, metadata, ownership, and access.
- Hands-on SQL, reporting or visualization experience, and ability to translate between business and technical concepts.
Additional strengths
- Experience in banking, financial services, or another regulated industry is a plus.
- Governance or data-quality platforms, Informatica, cloud data platforms, workflow automation, and master data management are advantageous.
- Power BI, Tableau, Looker, or similar reporting and visualization tools are cited.
Work environment
- Remote work from home.
