Data Engineer - Solution Expert
Role Overview
As a Financial Reporting & Planning Solution Expert, you will design and implement modern data and analytics solutions on Google Cloud Platform.
Google BigQuery will serve as the core data platform supporting financial reporting, controlling, planning and forecasting solutions.
You will play a key role in the transition from SAP BW-based reporting to a scalable cloud architecture.
This is a hands-on solution role requiring strong BigQuery, SQL, data warehousing and reporting expertise, combined with the ability to translate finance requirements into effective technical solutions.

Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement reporting and planning data solutions using Google BigQuery and SQL.
- Define scalable data models, KPI structures, financial hierarchies and semantic layers for enterprise reporting.
- Translate financial reporting, controlling, planning and forecasting requirements into technical solution designs and implementation approaches.
- Ensure solutions meet performance, scalability, maintainability, data quality and cost-efficiency requirements.
- Lead solution workshops and architecture discussions with Finance, Controlling, IT and other business stakeholders.
- Support the migration of reporting capabilities from SAP BW to BigQuery, including the transfer of business logic, calculations and hierarchies.
- Define reconciliation and validation approaches to ensure trusted reporting results.
- Support the integration of SAP and other finance-related source systems.
- Establish and promote technical governance, design standards and reporting best practices.
- Identify relevant opportunities for AI-enabled analytics and advanced forecasting capabilities.

Qualifications
- At least five years of experience in data warehousing, analytics engineering, business intelligence, solution design or analytics architecture.
- Proven hands-on experience designing and implementing Google BigQuery solutions in production environments.
- Strong SQL development and optimization skills.
- Strong knowledge of dimensional data modelling, reporting-ready data structures, semantic layers and enterprise reporting architecture.
- Experience with data integration, reconciliation, data quality, performance tuning and cloud cost optimization.
- Proven experience delivering enterprise-scale reporting, cloud data platform or modernization initiatives.
- Ability to translate complex finance and business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
- Solid understanding of financial reporting, management reporting, controlling, planning and forecasting processes.
- Experience working effectively across business and technical teams in an international environment.
- Experience with SAP BW and SAP source systems such as SAP ECC or SAP S/4HANA.
- Experience with MicroStrategy or comparable enterprise reporting platforms.
- Experience with enterprise planning and performance management platforms; Tagetik is an advantage.
- Knowledge of finance concepts such as P&L reporting, cost centre reporting, financial hierarchies, actual-versus-budget analysis and forecasting processes.
- Experience with AI-enabled analytics, generative AI, predictive analytics or advanced forecasting solutions.
- Strong analytical and structured problem-solving skills.
- Ability to bridge finance requirements and technical implementation.
- Clear communication and confident stakeholder management.

- Strong collaboration skills and the ability to drive decisions across functions.
