Description
---------------
AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure.
In other words, we’re the people who keep the cloud running.
We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on.
We work on the most challenging problems, with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain — and we’re looking for talented people who want to help.
You’ll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles.
You’ll collaborate with people across AWS to help us deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers.
And you’ll experience an inclusive culture that welcomes bold ideas and empowers you to own them to completion.
We are looking for Data Center Technicians to join our expanding Infrastructure Operations team.
Data Center Technicians are the primary resolver and troubleshoot and solve a range of datacenter infrastructure issues including, but not limited to: hardware, fiber, networking, and related problems.
You will be part of the Data Center Operations (DCO) team, overseeing the operation and maintenance of the IT infrastructure and hardware for data centers in AWS Cloud regions.
You will become the primary resolver for your support team, and gain troubleshooting skills on different hardware and software cases.
You will be able to troubleshoot and solve most infrastructure issues and engage other appropriate solutions groups on more complex problems to drive solutions.
Key job responsibilities

- Own the safety initiatives and projects to foster a strong safety culture.
- Adhere to all DC safety protocols during red zone (RZ) and floor operations.

- Diagnose hardware and network problems followed by physical repairs.
- Troubleshoot events within internal Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
- Perform root cause analysis of equipment failures.
- Manual handling and lifting of equipment up to 18 kg may be required (weight limits in accordance with regulations).

- Perform a variety of DCO procedures including break-and-fix repairs, host-level decommissions (HLD), server rack decommissions (SRD), media removal, media destruction, and first responder duties.
- Troubleshoot hardware issues using SOPs and available documentation; escalate when actions deviate from established procedures.
Scope & Decision-Making
- Operate across one or more process paths within the DCO team, applying knowledge to determine the correct task or procedure — including slight deviations — to achieve desired outcomes.
- Work is reviewed daily by supervision.
Communication & Collaboration
- Communicate clearly via tickets, SIMs, task tracking entries, and write-ups.
- Participate effectively in team meetings and present work to leaders.
Impact & Process Improvement
- Deliver work that impacts team metrics including ticket resolution, decom throughput, and safety compliance.
- Take action to improve operational excellence within DCO workflows.
