Responsibilities
- Set up and operate cylindrical grinding machines for external and internal grinding where required.
- Select, mount, and dress grinding wheels; adjust speeds, feeds, and machine settings.
- Interpret engineering drawings and machining specifications.
- Inspect components with precision measuring equipment and resolve dimensional or surface-finish issues.
- Maintain inspection records and quality and safety standards; collaborate with production and quality teams.
Required qualifications
- At least 3 years of hands-on cylindrical grinding experience in a precision engineering environment.
- Proven external cylindrical grinding experience; ability to interpret engineering drawings.
- Knowledge of wheel selection, dressing, speeds, and feeds, and competence using precision measuring instruments.
- Technical, vocational, or engineering qualification, or equivalent practical experience.
Preferred qualifications
- Internal cylindrical grinding experience is preferred.
- Experience in aerospace, oil and gas, automotive, or another precision engineering industry is preferred.
