Cybersecurity Analyst

Role description

Responsibilities

• Monitor security events and alerts, analyze potential threats, and investigate incidents to identify root causes and mitigation steps.
• Review and harden application and network configurations.
• Perform malware analysis on suspicious files or activities.
• Support vulnerability assessments and remediation efforts.
• Create documentation, contribute to security policies and procedures, and collaborate with teams to promote secure practices in technology and retail solutions.

Qualifications

• Strong cybersecurity and analytical skills to identify risks, interpret security data, and recommend protections.
• Network security skills, including securing communication channels, managing firewalls, and monitoring network traffic.
• Application security skills to assess software vulnerabilities, support secure development, and review system configurations.
• Malware-analysis skills to examine malicious code or behavior and support incident response and remediation.
• Familiarity with security frameworks, SIEM, IDS/IPS, and basic scripting or automation is beneficial.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including documenting findings and explaining technical issues to non-technical stakeholders.
• Ability to work independently remotely, manage part-time hours, and coordinate with distributed teams.
• Relevant education or certifications, such as a Computer Science degree, Security+, CEH, or equivalent experience, are assets.
