  • Assess technical debt, lock-in, sustainment, operational ownership, and monitoring; support readiness reviews and portfolio improvements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field; equivalent professional experience may be considered.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in architecture, systems design, cybersecurity or technology risk, consulting, AI governance, or modernization.
  • Architecture depth across applications, integration, data, cloud/platform, identity, security, networking, and operational support.
  • Experience operationalizing technology or AI governance and translating policy and risk requirements into technical controls.
  • Working knowledge of AI/ML and generative-AI lifecycle concepts, human oversight, privacy, security, and monitoring.
  • Federal or regulated-environment experience and strong executive and technical communication skills.
  • Must satisfy VA personnel vetting and applicable security, privacy, records, training, and data-handling requirements.
  • 12+ years in federal or regulated work and prior VA/federal health experience are desired.

Preferred experience and credentials

  • Recommended certification: TOGAF, Azure Solutions Architect Expert, AWS Solutions Architect Professional, or comparable architecture/cloud credential.
  • Desired experience includes NIST AI risk management, responsible AI, model risk, AI assurance, Zero Trust, cloud-native architecture, Azure/Power Platform, and secure software delivery.
  • Additional IAPP AIGP, CISSP/CCSP, CISM/CRISC, privacy, or advanced cloud/security architecture certifications are preferred.

Compensation

  • Target salary range is $185,000–$225,000; individual compensation depends on factors including location, qualifications, and business considerations.
