Role Description
The Writer will support Apalis by producing clear, engaging, and accurate written materials for internal and external audiences.
Day-to-day responsibilities include drafting reports, policy briefs, articles, web content, and communication materials that translate complex digital policy and program information into accessible language.
The role involves collaborating with subject matter experts, conducting background research, and ensuring consistency in tone, style, and messaging across all written outputs.
The Writer will also help refine existing content, maintain documentation standards, and contribute to editorial calendars and communication plans.
This is a full-time, on-site role based in Lilongwe.
Qualifications
- Strong skills in writing, editing, and proofreading, with the ability to tailor content to different audiences and formats.
- Experience with research and synthesis of complex information, particularly related to policy, technology, or social development.
- Ability to develop content strategies and structure documents such as reports, briefs, and web pages in a logical, reader-friendly way.
- Familiarity with digital communication tools, web publishing platforms, and basic principles of content design.
- Excellent command of written and spoken English, with strong attention to detail and quality.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and manage multiple assignments and deadlines.
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Policy, International Development, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Interest or experience in digital policy, economic development, or evidence-based program design is an advantage.
