Role Overview
Perform central sterile services duties for medical and surgical instruments.
Support safe instrument processing, sterile supply distribution, infection prevention, and clinical department operations.
Instrument Processing
- Receive, clean, disinfect, pack, sterilize, and store medical and surgical instruments.
- Operate and monitor autoclaves and washer disinfectors.
- Segregate and handle contaminated instruments and materials properly.
- Inspect instruments for cleanliness, functionality, and damage before sterilization and distribution.
- Prepare and distribute sterile packs and procedure trays to clinical departments.
Records and Compliance
- Maintain accurate sterilization records, logs, and documentation.
- Follow DOH/HAAD, infection control, and healthcare facility policies and procedures.
- Monitor expiry dates and proper storage conditions of sterile items.
- Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and occupational health standards within the CSSD department.
- Report equipment malfunctions, damaged instruments, and infection control concerns to the appropriate department.
Coordination and Improvement
- Coordinate with nursing and clinical teams regarding instrument availability and sterilization requirements.
- Participate in quality improvement activities, audits, and infection prevention programs.
Work Location
- The role is performed in person.
