Role Description

The Critical Facilities Manager is a part-time, remote role responsible for ensuring the reliability, safety, and operational continuity of the organization’s critical digital and physical infrastructure.

Day-to-day tasks include monitoring and maintaining key systems (such as cloud-based platforms, data storage, and collaboration tools), coordinating facility-related vendors or service providers, and managing incident response procedures for outages or disruptions.

The role also involves implementing and updating preventive maintenance schedules, documenting processes and configurations, and supporting contingency planning to ensure business continuity.

The Critical Facilities Manager will collaborate with leadership and cross-functional teams to assess infrastructure needs, recommend improvements, and ensure that facilities and systems align with the organization’s mission, budget, and compliance requirements.

Qualifications

  • Strong experience managing critical facilities and infrastructure, including preventive maintenance planning, incident response, and vendor coordination.
  • Knowledge of building systems (e.g., power, HVAC, security, and access control) and their impact on operational resilience and reliability.
  • Familiarity with digital infrastructure (e.g., cloud platforms, data storage, and collaboration tools) and ability to work effectively with technical teams.
  • Demonstrated skills in risk assessment, business continuity planning, and developing or maintaining safety and compliance procedures.
  • Excellent organizational, documentation, and project management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks in a part-time, remote environment.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, including the ability to work across cultures and time zones.
  • Experience working with mission-driven, nonprofit, or international organizations is beneficial.
  • Bachelor’s degree in facilities management, engineering, operations, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
