Position summary
Analyze manufacturing costs and production efficiencies to support operational decision-making through financial and production analysis.
The role supports accurate trailer costing, production variance identification, labor efficiency, and continuous improvement.
Trailer costing and product analysis
- Develop and maintain standard costs for trailer models and configurations.
- Analyze material, labor, overhead, freight, and other trailer production costs; review and update Bills of Material for costing accuracy.
- Monitor cost changes from engineering revisions, vendor pricing changes, and manufacturing process adjustments.
- Support quoting and profitability analysis; evaluate margins by trailer model, customer, and production line.
Variance reporting and analysis
- Prepare weekly and monthly material, labor, purchase price, and production efficiency variance reports, including scrap and rework analysis.
- Investigate significant variances, communicate findings to management, identify root causes, and recommend corrective actions.
- Track actual production costs against standard costs and budget expectations.
Time studies and labor analysis
- Conduct time studies throughout the manufacturing facility to evaluate labor efficiency and production standards.
- Analyze workflow, cycle times, downtime, and labor utilization; assist in developing production labor standards.
- Recommend process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce waste.
Manufacturing and operational support
- Partner with production, purchasing, and engineering to improve cost visibility and operational efficiency.
- Monitor scrap, warranty, and rework trends.
Reporting and additional duties
- Maintain costing and reporting data in ERP/MRP systems; use Excel and reporting software to analyze datasets and produce actionable insights.
- Maintain confidentiality of financial and operational information; assist with special projects, operational reviews, and process improvement initiatives.
- Collaborate across departments, support company and production goals, and perform additional duties as assigned.

- Ability to develop and maintain standard costs and assess material, labor, overhead, freight, and other production costs.
- Ability to investigate production variances, identify root causes, and communicate findings and recommendations to management.
- Ability to conduct time studies and analyze workflow, cycle times, downtime, labor utilization, and efficiency.
- Ability to maintain costing and reporting data in ERP/MRP systems and use Excel and reporting software to analyze data.
- Maintain confidentiality of company financial and operational information.
