Role overview
Evaluate program financial and operational data to track, manage, and reduce expenses associated with Department of War programs.
Core responsibilities
- Estimate time, labor, materials, and overhead for government-contracted defense programs.
- Establish program baselines and support budget development and tracking, including FTE staffing, labor rates, and material costs.
- Monitor actual spending against budgeted or standard costs and identify variances.
- Perform EVM calculations and analyze earned value data to assess cost and schedule performance and support financial planning.
- Break down finished items to measure component costs.
- Investigate differences between planned costs and actual expenses, including materials and labor.
- Recommend operational changes, vendor negotiations, or process improvements to reduce waste and improve margins.
- Prepare financial statements, cost reports, and data models for management and customers.
Desired abilities
- Motivated self-starter.
- Familiarity with defense contracts is desired.
- Familiarity with an ANSI/EIA-748-compliant Earned Value Management System (EVMS) is desired.
