  • Prepare SR&ED narratives explaining technological uncertainty, systematic investigation, and technological advancement.
  • Review project financial summaries and assess eligibility of employee, subcontractor, materials, and capital costs.

  • Interview clients and technical teams onsite or remotely for T661 filings and ITC submissions.
  • Collect claim documentation and manage claims through completion and client and practice-leader sign-off.
  • Support clients through CRA technical reviews and audits, technical discussions, site visits, and correspondence.
  • Coach junior staff and review work; track legislative, tax authority, and program changes.
  • Identify specialty-tax opportunities, contribute to thought leadership, attend sales and business development meetings, and maintain confidentiality.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in engineering or science, including listed engineering disciplines and chemistry, physics, or biology, or a related discipline.
  • At least five years of progressive experience in SR&ED, Canadian clean economy ITCs, or other government incentive programs.
  • Working knowledge of related legislation, CRA eligibility criteria including Form T661, and CRA technical review processes; Canadian corporate tax experience is valued.
  • Experience managing client engagements and leading teams of tax professionals.
  • Strong tax research, analytical, communication, project management, documentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience managing engagement economics, including budgeting, staffing, and client billing; demonstrated business development and relationship management capabilities.
  • Advanced Excel and tax technology proficiency are preferred.
  • Self-motivated, collaborative problem-solver comfortable working independently, navigating complexity, and adapting to evolving innovation and policy needs.

Growth and benefits

  • Professional growth is tied to performance, with meaningful hands-on work, development opportunities, mentorship, and coaching.
  • The employer describes comprehensive benefits and wellbeing resources.

Compensation

  • Salary range is $125,000–$175,000 annually, dependent on factors including education, experience, skills, and geography.
