Core Java Developer + Etrade

Role overview

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain Core Java eTrading and algorithmic trading applications.
• Build scalable, resilient services for real-time market data, order processing, pricing, execution, and event-driven workflows.
• Use concurrency, multithreading, reactive programming, and asynchronous processing techniques.
• Implement messaging and event processing across real-time streams, including multicast and high-throughput communications.
• Design and optimize distributed caching, including GridGain/Ignite.
• Collaborate across technology, trading, product, quantitative development, and infrastructure teams; contribute to architecture decisions.
• Apply AI/ML and Generative AI to analytics, anomaly detection, monitoring, automation, testing, forecasting, and decision support.
• Ensure AI solutions account for performance, security, explainability, data quality, and regulatory compliance.
• Resolve production incidents through troubleshooting and root-cause analysis; contribute to reviews, testing, releases, and deployments.
• Mentor developers and provide technical leadership where needed.

Required qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related technical discipline.
• 8+ years developing server-side Java applications; strong expertise in Core Java and Java Collections.
• Experience with Java concurrency, reactive programming, Rx Streams, asynchronous/event-driven design, messaging, and distributed caching.
• 5+ years developing multicast messaging solutions and 5+ years working with relational databases such as SQL Server, Sybase, or Oracle.
• 5+ years designing low-latency trading application services.
• Knowledge of performance tuning, memory management, garbage collection, profiling, and latency optimization.
• 5+ years with DevOps and build/release tools such as Maven, Jenkins, Nexus, or Helios.
• Experience with distributed systems, fault tolerance, resiliency, high availability, technical design, system integration, and production support.
• Hands-on experience with AI/ML, Generative AI, or AI-assisted software engineering, including APIs, model integration, data pipelines, or machine-learning workflows.

Additional qualifications

• Cloud or container experience, including Docker, Kubernetes, cloud-native platforms, CI/CD, or infrastructure automation, is preferred.
• AI/ML frameworks, financial-services AI, Python, Spark, Kafka, FIX, market-data feeds, order-management systems, trading platforms, performance testing, and technical delivery leadership are preferred.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, debugging, communication, attention-to-detail, ownership, and collaborative delivery skills are sought.

Pay

• Pay is $75.00–$80.00 per hour; expected hours are 40 per week.
