What you'll do

• You'll be responsible for assisting with the preparation of all facility meals.
• Essential functions:
• Prepare and cook quantity of food required according to menu and production sheet.
• Maintain kitchen equipment in orderly workable condition. Ensure work area is safe, clean and sanitary at all times.
• Ensure the count and control of knives and other controlled kitchen tools. Provide an accurate count of all controlled items at the beginning and end of each shift.
• Prepare foods as directed for special facility functions and special diets when prescribed by staff doctor.
• Assist in cleaning kitchen work areas following each meal.
• Coordinate the work of detainees assigned to assist in the cafeteria, which includes long periods of sitting and standing.
• Education and experience requirements:
• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Food service training, one (1) year of food service or related experience and prior supervisory experience are preferred.
• Must be able to pass food handler certification within 30 days of hire.
• Must successfully complete required pre-service training.
• Valid driver’s license in the state of Texas with an acceptable driving record required, unless waived by management.
