Full-time, non-management Cook I position in the Food and Beverage & Culinary category.
The position is at the Westin on Salwa Road in Doha, Qatar and is not remote.
Cooking and kitchen duties
- Prepare special meals or substitute products as needed; regulate oven, grill, and broiler temperatures and thaw food safely in a refrigerator.
- Ensure appropriate portions, arrangement, and garnishing; maintain food records and monitor food quality and quantity.
- Prepare and cook food according to recipes, quality and presentation standards, and preparation checklists.
- Prepare cold dishes and ensure food products meet quality standards.
- Communicate busy-period support needs, surplus food for daily specials, rejected products, and menu specials to relevant kitchen and food-and-beverage staff.
Team, service, and safety duties
- Assist management with hiring, training, scheduling, evaluating, coaching, disciplining, and motivating employees; serve as a role model.
- Follow company and safety procedures, report accidents and unsafe conditions, and complete safety training and certifications.
- Maintain a clean, professional appearance, protect confidential information and company property, and communicate professionally with coworkers.
- Anticipate and respond to guest service needs, maintain positive working relationships, and support team goals.
- Meet quality standards and perform other reasonable duties requested by supervisors.
Desirable qualifications
- A technical, trade, or vocational school qualification is desirable.
- At least 3 years of related work experience is desirable.
- Supervisory experience is not required; no license or certification is specified.
Physical demands
- The role involves standing, sitting, or walking for extended periods; reaching, bending, twisting, and stooping; and moving objects weighing up to 25 pounds without assistance.
