and is seeking a highly skilled

Consultant / Specialist Acute Internal Medicine Physician

to join its multidisciplinary acute care team.

This role is ideal for physicians who thrive in a fast-paced clinical environment, managing complex medical presentations and delivering timely, evidence-based care to patients requiring urgent medical intervention.

The hospital operates a modern

Acute Medical Unit (AMU)

designed to provide rapid assessment, diagnosis, stabilization, and treatment of patients presenting with acute medical conditions.

Supported by advanced diagnostics, critical care services, and specialist consultation pathways, the physician will play a pivotal role in improving patient flow, reducing hospital admissions, and ensuring optimal clinical outcomes.

Minimum

  • 3+ years post specialist or board certification
  • **Practice Model:**
  • Acute medical admissions, inpatient care, emergency consultations, and multidisciplinary management
  • The successful candidate will be responsible for the rapid evaluation, diagnosis, stabilization, and ongoing management of patients presenting with a broad spectrum of acute medical illnesses requiring urgent hospital-based care.

Key Responsibilities

  • acute medical conditions requiring urgent evaluation and treatment
  • Lead the care of patients admitted through the

Acute Medical Unit (AMU)

  • and medical admission pathways
  • Perform comprehensive clinical assessments and formulate evidence-based treatment plans
  • Manage patients with
  • complex multisystem illnesses
  • , including cardiovascular, respiratory, infectious, renal, endocrine, and metabolic conditions
  • Rapidly identify deteriorating patients and initiate appropriate escalation of care when required
  • Lead and participate in
  • medical emergency response, resuscitation, and stabilization of critically ill patients
  • Conduct daily ward rounds and coordinate multidisciplinary treatment plans
  • Interpret laboratory investigations, imaging studies, ECGs, and other diagnostic tests to support clinical decision-making
  • Collaborate closely with specialists in cardiology, pulmonology, nephrology, neurology, infectious diseases, endocrinology, and critical care medicine
  • Facilitate safe patient discharge planning and continuity of care through coordinated outpatient follow-up pathways
  • Supervise and mentor junior physicians, residents, and medical trainees within the department
  • Participate in clinical governance activities, quality improvement projects, and evidence-based protocol development
  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in accordance with hospital and regulatory standards
  • Ensure compliance with international patient safety standards and UAE healthcare regulations

Qualifications & Board Recognition

  • **UK CCT in Acute Medicine specialization / Internal Medicine**
  • **MRCP (UK) / FRCP**
  • **Royal College Certification (Canada)**

  • **Arab Board in Internal Medicine**
  • **MD / DNB / FCPS Internal Medicine**
  • or equivalent recognized specialist qualification
  • Candidates must meet eligibility requirements for

DHA / DOH / MOH licensing

Preferred Experience

  • Experience within an

Acute Medical Unit (AMU)

  • , emergency medicine interface service, hospitalist service, or acute care setting
  • Strong exposure to management of

Advanced Life Support (ALS/ACLS)
