Consultant Rheumatologist – Al Ain

Job Summary

Key Responsibilities

• Diagnose and manage rheumatologic conditions including rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, vasculitis, ankylosing spondylitis, gout, osteoporosis, and connective tissue diseases.
• Conduct comprehensive outpatient and inpatient rheumatology consultations.
• Develop individualized treatment plans including biologic therapies and long-term disease management.
• Perform joint examinations, musculoskeletal assessments, and rheumatologic procedures where applicable.
• Collaborate with internal medicine, orthopedics, nephrology, dermatology, physiotherapy, and multidisciplinary healthcare teams.
• Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans accordingly.
• Educate patients and families regarding chronic disease management, medications, and lifestyle modifications.
• Maintain accurate medical documentation in compliance with DOH regulations and hospital policies.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives, research, clinical audits, and CME activities.

& Requirements

• MBBS or equivalent medical degree recognized by DOH Abu Dhabi.
• Board Certification / Fellowship in Rheumatology.
• Valid DOH Consultant License or Eligibility Letter in Rheumatology.
• Minimum 5–7 years of post-board consultant experience in a reputed tertiary care or multispecialty hospital.
• Expertise in managing autoimmune and inflammatory rheumatic diseases.
• Strong clinical, communication, and patient counseling skills.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with biologic therapies and advanced rheumatologic treatments.
• Exposure to multidisciplinary autoimmune disease management programs.
• Musculoskeletal ultrasound skills are an advantage.
• Ability to work effectively in a multicultural healthcare environment.
