Consultant Endocrinologist

Role overview

Key responsibilities

• Assess and manage inpatient and outpatient endocrine, hormonal, and metabolic disorders, including complex diabetes and related complications.
• Manage thyroid, adrenal, pituitary, metabolic, reproductive hormone, PCOS, and growth disorders.
• Develop treatment plans, prescribe medications, monitor patients, and interpret laboratory tests, hormone profiles, imaging, and other diagnostics.
• Educate patients on condition management, medication adherence, lifestyle changes, and preventive care.
• Coordinate care with physicians, dietitians, surgeons, and other specialists; maintain records and follow clinical, safety, and regulatory standards.
• Participate in audits, quality improvement, and hospital governance; supervise and mentor junior medical staff.
• Participate in inpatient consultations and on-call duties as required.

Qualifications and experience

• MD, DO, MBBS, or equivalent recognized primary medical qualification.
• Accredited specialist training in Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolism.
• Recognized postgraduate qualification or board certification in Endocrinology; examples include American Board Certification, UK CCT/MRCP with relevant specialist training, FRACP, or equivalent.
• Minimum 3–5 years of relevant post-specialization clinical experience.
• Tertiary-care hospital or accredited healthcare facility experience is preferred.
• Proven expertise in complex endocrine, hormonal, and metabolic conditions; strong clinical judgment, diagnostic reasoning, and patient management skills.
• Strong communication and multidisciplinary teamwork; commitment to evidence-based medicine, professional ethics, and continuing medical education.
