Responsibilities

  • Establish, maintain, and enforce controlled approved design baselines and effectivity rules for UAS and key certification configurations, including prototypes and test specimens.
  • Maintain baseline and effectivity registers and provide configuration-status accounting for readiness gates and authority submission packages.
  • Maintain specimen and test-article conformity and configuration indices so certification tests and compliance artefacts trace to the correct configuration.
  • Ensure each compliance document, test plan/report, analysis, and submission index references the correct baseline and effectivity.
  • Operate certification-impact change control by linking changes or repairs to affected requirements and evidence that must be updated.
  • Implement and maintain the DOH-required system for communicating current changes to engineering drawings, specifications, and design procedures.
  • Maintain the DOH-described type-design and compliance-document record-keeping system with auditable configuration references and histories.
  • Support certification inspection and test conformity by keeping configuration identification, serialisation/effectivity, and document packages current.
  • Hold evidence releases when configuration or effectivity is ambiguous or baselines are not controlled, and drive corrective actions.
  • Ensure records support GCAA CAR 21 expectations for design information and data, including authority-accessible Permit-to-Fly and Flight-Conditions supporting documents.

Qualifications and experience

  • Engineering degree in aerospace, mechanical, electrical, or systems engineering, or equivalent aviation technical qualification.
  • Demonstrated configuration-management experience with complex aerospace or aviation products; certification, flight-test, or regulated engineering experience is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of baseline/effectivity control, configuration identification, and status-accounting methods and tools, such as Siemens Teamcenter, Siemens Polarion, Microsoft SharePoint, or GitLab.
  • Proven ability to maintain test-article configuration indices and enforce configuration discipline for test readiness and certification evidence integrity.
  • Experience implementing controlled communication practices for changes to drawings, specifications, and procedures.
  • Understanding of airworthiness compliance evidence and traceability between configuration baselines and compliance documents.
  • Strong documentation and record-keeping discipline, including audit-ready registers, effectivity statements, and controlled histories.
  • Ability to challenge stakeholders and hold releases when configuration integrity is at risk while driving timely resolution.
  • Strong coordination with engineering, airworthiness/compliance, flight test, and external partners or suppliers.
  • Exposure to GCAA CAR 21 or EASA Part 21 design-organisation practices and related record-keeping is desirable.
