The role:

Mauve Group is seeking to engage an experienced Compensation and Benefits Specialist / Consultant on a freelance self-employed basis to support our Global HR & Advisory Services.

The ideal candidate will be self-employed or otherwise able to deliver consultancy services alongside existing commitments, providing expert compensation and benefits advice to clients across multiple countries on an ad hoc basis.

Skills and experience

  • The ideal candidate will have:
  • A bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Employment Law, or a related field (e.g. HR Management, Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Economics, or Statistics), and/or a relevant professional qualification.
  • Strong knowledge of compensation and benefits, ideally within an international context.
  • Experience designing and implementing scalable reward frameworks across multiple countries.
  • Proven ability to develop pay and grading structures.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex concepts.
  • Commercial awareness with a practical, solution-focused approach.
  • Ability to build relationships and manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • High level of professionalism, confidentiality, and attention to detail.

Key responsibilities

  • Designing and managing compensation structures, including salary benchmarking and grading frameworks, and developing tailored options and recommendations for clients.
  • Leading pay review processes, including merit increases and bonus schemes.
  • Reviewing employee benefits programmes (e.g. pensions, healthcare, insurance) and provide advice on enhancements and alternative options.
  • Ensuring compliance with local employment law, tax regulations, and reporting requirements.
  • Contributing to total reward strategies to support attraction and retention.
  • Analysing compensation data and present clear, actionable insights to stakeholders.
  • Acting as a trusted advisor on pay and benefits matters to clients, HR teams, and leadership.
  • Collaborating with internal teams and external providers across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Global scope:
  • Provide advice on multi-country reward structures, with an understanding of relevant local legislation.
  • Working closely with Mauve and its in-house experts to ensure alignment with local market practices and regulatory requirements.
  • Delivering consultancy on competitive and compliant global reward solutions.
