A Commis 1 is an entry-to-intermediate level professional cook who works under the supervision of a Chef de Partie.
The role involves preparing ingredients, cooking assigned dishes, maintaining hygiene standards, and supporting kitchen operations.
Responsibilities
- Prepare ingredients such as vegetables, meats, sauces, and garnishes.
- Cook and present dishes according to recipes and quality standards.
- Assist senior chefs in food preparation and service.
- Ensure food safety, sanitation, and hygiene procedures are followed.
- Maintain cleanliness of workstations, kitchen equipment, and storage areas.
- Monitor stock levels and report shortages to supervisors.
- Properly store food items and minimize waste.
- Follow kitchen schedules and support smooth daily operations.
- Comply with company policies, health regulations, and safety procedure.
Qualifications
- Basic cooking and food preparation skills.
- Knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards (such as HACCP).
- Ability to follow recipes and instructions accurately.
- Good organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Teamwork and communication skills.
- Ability to lift and carry kitchen supplies when required.
- Flexibility to work shifts, weekends, and holidays.
- Preferably residing in Dubai and can start immediately.
