Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Health Information Management, Nursing, or related field; RHIT, RHIA, or CCS certification preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of progressive coding experience, including inpatient facility coding.
- Demonstrated expertise in outpatient and professional fee coding.
- Strong supervisory and team‐leadership skills with a track record of staff development.
- Proficiency with Epic EHR and 3M/Solventum coding software.
- In‐depth knowledge of CMS, ICD‐10‐CM/PCS, CPT, HCPCS, and payer guidelines.
- Excellent communication skills for provider education and cross‐functional collaboration.
- Ability to analyze data, generate reports, and drive process improvements.
- Experience conducting internal audits and managing external audit responses.
- Commitment to maintaining high accuracy and compliance standards.
Responsibilities
- Oversee daily coding operations for inpatient, outpatient, and professional fee services across Central and West regions.
- Supervise, mentor, and evaluate a team of medical coders, ensuring performance standards are met.
- Develop and deliver ongoing education programs for coders and clinical providers.
- Maintain compliance with CMS, HIPAA, and payer-specific coding guidelines.
- Collaborate with IT to configure and optimize Epic and 3M/Solventum coding tools.
- Conduct regular audits and quality reviews to identify and correct coding discrepancies.
- Serve as the subject‐matter expert for inpatient facility coding and related reimbursement policies.
- Prepare and present coding performance metrics to senior leadership.
- Lead root‐cause analysis for denials and implement corrective action plans.
- Stay current with coding updates, regulations, and industry best practices.
Preferred Qualifications
