Cloud Software Engineer

Role overview

Responsibilities

• Use Claude Code and other AI agents to develop, debug, and iterate on backend systems.
• Build scalable microservices and APIs for desktop and mobile applications.
• Develop secure, resilient, cost-efficient AWS infrastructure and optimize PostgreSQL databases.
• Write Python and Bash automation for deployment and troubleshooting.
• Collaborate with product, QA, and architecture teams on requirements, quality, and system design.
• Analyze consumer data and platform health with Databricks or similar tools to catch anomalies and bugs.
• Help plan and migrate legacy backend components to AWS, Go, and PostgreSQL.

Requirements

• At least 7 years of professional full-stack development experience.
• Deep professional Go expertise and advanced production AWS experience.
• Hands-on PostgreSQL, scalable microservices, and RESTful or gRPC API experience.
• Python and Bash proficiency; familiarity with Linux, CI/CD, and TDD.
• Experience with Databricks or equivalent analytics tools and AI coding toolchains.
• Strong collaboration and communication across architecture, product, and QA teams.
• Candidates must be located in Canada; Toronto or Waterloo commute distance is preferred.

Preferred and additional skills

• Dart and Flutter experience is preferred.
• GCP, Couchbase Capella, .NET/C#, and cybersecurity or antivirus data-pipeline background are pluses.

Workplace

• Hybrid position in Canada, with occasional onsite attendance as business needs require.
• Candidates within commuting distance of Toronto or Waterloo are preferred; relocation is not provided.

Compensation

• Anticipated annual compensation is CAD $122,010 to CAD $165,070, depending on experience and qualifications.
