Overview
Supervises, orients, trains and assigns duties to Subordinate Blood bank technologist and senior technologist.
Supervises the operation of the laboratory.
Conducts Quality assurance test on sample collected from time to time.
Communicates with the companies for instruments or reagent deficiencies or purchasing new one.
Approves external requisitions for reagents and disposable before submitting to the purchasing office.
Coordinates with other departments for feedback pertaining to laboratory work.
Introduces new procedures/investigations in the laboratory.
Helps in continuing education program for laboratory staffs and other department as well.
Performs complicated and critical tests besides sharing his staff in laboratory test especially when there is lot of work
Perform other applicable tasks and duties assigned within the realm of his/her knowledge, skills and abilities.
Interpretation of lab results.
Develops and monitors relevant key performance indicators, takes necessary action for improvement.
Follow-up departmental orientation for the newly hired staff and specialized training if necessary.
Ensures departmental staff adherence to the hospital wide infection control program.
Ensure attendance of departmental staff to annual fire and safety trainings and infection control mandatory lectures.
Inculcates culture of patient centered care among the department staff.
Supervises and monitors the delivery of health care by Department staff and provides guidance regarding patient care when indicated.
Takes remedial action when appropriate.
Investigate OVR s related to their department and take necessary corrective / remedial action.
Assess candidates for recruitment to the Department and provides recommendations when requested.
Supervises and directs section heads of Specialty or Subspecialty groups assigned to the Department.
Communicates effectively with Department staff, with other department.
Maintains confidentiality regarding patient information and regarding administrative matters of a confidential nature.
Ensures staff compliance to the hospital dress code.
Recommends space, equipment and supplies for the existing unit and new programs within the hospital scope.
Recommends the necessary staffing for their area.
Defines the necessary skills required of the medical staff to safely provide care to patients and recommend the training programs needed.
