Requirements

  • Sustained physical endurance to lift up to 75 lbs., continuously stand, work with arms extended overhead, climb, and squat, as well as the ability to work in a fast-moving automotive maintenance garage.
  • DOT Physical Examination and Functional Capacity Exam required (paid by CTA).
  • Class C Mechanic: Must have one year experience or training of mechanical repairs on heavy trucks or buses.
  • Must be capable of performing minor mechanical repairs and preventive maintenance.
  • Must be proficient in the repair of air brakes, air systems, air conditioning systems, chassis, electrical systems, and gas and diesel engine repair.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment DOT Physical Examination and pre-employment Drug and Alcohol test.
  • Must have the ability to read, write, and follow directions and instructions, department policies, as well as EPA and OSHA guidelines.
  • Must be capable of heavy physical work in a fast-moving automotive maintenance garage.
  • The position requires the employee to furnish all needed hand tools under 1". CTA provides all tools over 1".
  • Must have verifiable work references.
  • Requires a clean driving record and the ability to obtain a MS Commercial License Class “B” with a “P” (passenger) endorsement.
  • Responsible for D.O.T. self-certification to do annual inspections and brake inspections.
  • Must have a High School Diploma or G.E.D.
