Civil Structural Engineer

Role and location

Design and engineering

• Prepare and review structural designs, calculations, and engineering drawings for building and civil construction projects.
• Perform structural analysis and design for reinforced concrete and steel structures.
• Ensure compliance with applicable design codes, standards, and project specifications.

Estimation and tendering

• Prepare quantity take-offs, BOQs, detailed cost estimates, material quantities, rate analyses, and cost breakdowns.
• Review tender documents, drawings, specifications, and project requirements.
• Support preparation of technical and commercial tender proposals.

Coordination and optimisation

• Coordinate with architects, MEP engineers, consultants, and project teams to resolve technical issues.
• Evaluate materials and alternative design solutions to optimise costs.

Qualifications and experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering is required; a Structural Engineering degree is an advantage.
• Requires 10–12 years of GCC experience in structural design and estimation within construction.
• Requires strong knowledge of reinforced concrete and structural steel design.
• Requires proven experience in BOQ preparation, quantity take-offs, cost estimation, and tendering.
• Requires ability to interpret structural drawings, technical specifications, and contractual documents.

Software and capabilities

• Structural design software proficiency in ETABS, STAAD.Pro, SAFE, or equivalent is required.
• Good working knowledge of AutoCAD and MS Excel or other estimation tools is required.
• Strong analytical, numerical, coordination, problem-solving, and written and verbal communication skills are required.
• Building construction and commercial project experience, and ability to independently handle design and estimation, are preferred.
