Civil Inspector

Role overview

Responsibilities

• Inspect construction sites and monitor work against approved plans, specifications, and quality standards.
• Interpret drawings, blueprints, and technical documents; communicate requirements to field teams.
• Record site conditions, construction progress, and daily activities.
• Resolve construction issues and discrepancies in a timely manner.
• Inspect and test materials, concrete, soil, and structural elements for quality control.
• Ensure compliance with safety protocols, environmental regulations, and local building codes.
• Coordinate contractors, subcontractors, and project managers to support workflow and schedules.
• Maintain project records, including photographs, measurements, and inspection reports.
• Operate and maintain surveying and testing field equipment.
• Provide findings and recommendations to project management and design teams through technical reports.

Required qualifications

• At least 10 years of experience in a civil engineering field role.
• Strong knowledge of civil engineering principles, construction methodologies, and quality assurance standards.
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting construction drawings and technical specifications.
• Solid understanding of safety protocols and regulatory compliance requirements.
• Strong organization and documentation skills, attention to detail, analytical ability, and technical troubleshooting.
• Effective communication and coordination skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred qualifications

• Experience with CAD and construction management software platforms.
• Familiarity with Saudi Arabian building codes and construction standards.
• Previous experience on civil engineering projects in the Middle East.
• Knowledge of surveying equipment and testing instruments.
• Experience supervising or mentoring junior field staff.
• Certification in construction safety or quality management.

Workplace

• The work location model is on-site, and the role involves construction-site inspections and field activities.
• New hires must attend an in-person Day 1 onboarding at an AECOM office location.
