Civil Engineer – Solar Projects

Role overview

Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate civil works for solar PV projects, including site preparation, foundations, cable trenches, roads, drainage, fencing, and related infrastructure.
• Review civil and structural drawings, specifications, BOQs, and technical documents.
• Supervise PV module, inverter, transformer, and equipment foundations, cable trenches, control rooms, and other civil structures.
• Coordinate with electrical, structural, mechanical, and solar installation teams.
• Monitor excavation, grading, compaction, reinforcement, formwork, concrete pouring, and backfilling.
• Conduct site inspections and ensure construction follows approved drawings, method statements, specifications, and quality requirements.
• Coordinate with consultants, contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, and clients.
• Prepare and review method statements, inspection requests, material submittals, and technical reports.
• Monitor progress and report delays, technical issues, and site constraints; ensure compliance with HSE, quality requirements, and UAE standards.
• Support quantity measurements, BOQ preparation, material requirements, cost monitoring, as-built documentation, and project handover; attend project meetings and update stakeholders.

Qualifications and experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
• 3–7 years of relevant civil engineering experience.
• Previous solar PV project experience is required.
• Experience with solar foundations, mounting structures, inverter foundations, cable trenches, site grading, roads, drainage, and related infrastructure.
• Strong ability to read and interpret civil and structural drawings.
• Experience working with EPC contractors, consultants, and subcontractors.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD; Civil 3D and project scheduling software are advantageous.
• Good knowledge of construction methods, concrete works, foundations, and site development.
• Strong communication and coordination skills; UAE experience is preferred and a UAE driving licence is advantageous.
