Civil & Structural Design Engineer

Role Description

Responsibilities

• Design of steel and concrete structures (pipeline and piping supports, pipe racks, vessels, culverts, track roads, road crossings and related infrastructure) in accordance with international, Shell DEPs and QatarEnergy standards;
• Preparation of technical reports, material specifications and method statements;
• Development of design sketches and instructions to draftsmen and review and approval of their work in AutoCAD;
• Close inter-disciplinary design coordination, particularly with mechanical, piping and pipeline discipline engineers;
• Gathering of inputs through review of other discipline deliverables;
• Review of design submissions by sub-contractors;
• Coordination and meetings with Clients / Contractors.

Qualifications

• More than 10 years of work experience;
• More than 5 years of relevant work experience in oil & gas greenfield and brownfield projects, specifically for QatarEnergy and its subsidiaries;
• Understanding of the basics of mechanical, process, piping, pipeline and other design disciplines and ability to interpret their drawings and reports;
• Understanding of principles and outputs of pipe stress analysis software (CAESAR II) and / or hydraulic analysis software (PIPENET, EPANET);
• Proficiency in structural finite element models and design preparation in Staad Pro and similar software packages, as well as MS Office;
• Familiarity with relevant engineering standards and practices;
• Bachelor's degree in structural engineering or civil engineering;
• Registration with Ministry of Municipality;
• Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams;
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Approval through an interview with the Client may be required during the probation period.
