PILLAR GLOBAL TRADING QFZ LLC is an international commodity trading and export company incorporated within the Qatar Free Zones Authority (QFZA).
The company operates a strategic sourcing model, purchasing bulk construction materials and industrial commodities (including Cement, Clinker, Steel products, and Minerals) directly from major industrial manufacturing factories to supply international markets via large-scale maritime vessels.
We are currently seeking a highly experienced, autonomous, and technically sound
Chief Financial Officer (Cfo)
to establish, manage, and secure the entire financial infrastructure of our trading operations in Doha.
Position Objective
The Chief Financial Officer & Head of Trade Finance will take 100% ownership of the company’s financial strategy, risk mitigation frameworks, banking relations, and international trade finance operations.
Acting as a strategic co-pilot to the General Manager, the successful candidate will work in close, daily synchronization with the International Trading, Sales & Logistics Manager to structure, verify, and execute import/export transactions.
The primary focus of this role is to eliminate financial risk, optimize liquidity, and ensure absolute compliance and flawless execution of trade instruments.
Detailed Responsibilities
- 1.
- International Trade Finance & Documentary Operations (Primary Focus)
- Structure, review, and issue complex trade finance instruments including Irrevocable Letters of Credit (LC) at sight, Back-to-Back LCs, and Transferable LCs.
- Manage the end-to-end documentary cycle to ensure zero discrepancies before bank presentations, meticulously verifying Bills of Lading (B/L), Commercial Invoices, Packing Lists, SGS Inspection Certificates, and Certificates of Origin.
- Supervise and secure demand guarantees, Performance Bonds, and Standby Letters of Credit (SBLC) related to shipping and procurement contracts.
- Apply deep operational knowledge of ICC rules (specifically UCP 600 and ISBP 745) to defend the company’s financial interests during banking and counterparty trade disputes.
2. Financial Risk Management & Structuring
- Conduct rigorous financial health and credit risk assessments on international buyers and sourcing factories.
- Formulate, implement, and monitor robust hedging strategies to protect trading profit margins against Foreign Exchange (FX) volatility and commodity price fluctuations.
- Establish internal control mechanisms to prevent financial leaks, commercial fraud, and operational errors across the transactional pipeline.
- Ensure strict corporate compliance with Qatari financial laws, QFZA regulations, international anti-money laundering (AML) standards, and global sanctions frameworks.
3. Banking Relations & Structured Trade Sourcing
- Negotiate, secure, and expand transactional credit lines, Trade Finance facilities, and working capital limits with Qatari local banks and international financial institutions.
- Identify, evaluate, and secure alternative, creative financing solutions optimized for bulk maritime trading (such as factoring, structured trade finance, and pre-export financing).
- Manage day-to-day operations with traditional banking partners and international B2B payment fintech platforms to ensure swift capital movement.

- Corporate Treasury, Cash Flow & Interdepartmental Synergy
- Build, maintain, and analyze rolling cash-flow forecasts to ensure the company perfectly balances heavy factory advance payments with subsequent international customer collections.
- Coordinate directly on a daily basis with the International Trading, Sales & Logistics Manager to align maritime shipping schedules and port deadlines with LC validity windows and banking requirements.
- Manage corporate financial accounts, financial reporting, profit allocation, and general tax or regulatory filing preparation for the QFZ entity.
Academic Background & Professional Certifications
- **Education:**
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Corporate Finance, International Trade, Banking, Accounting, or a strictly related quantitative field.
- **Certifications:**
- Highly preferred professional credentials such as
Csdg
(Certified Specialist in Demand Guarantees), or
Citf
(Certificate in International Trade and Finance).
Professional Experience
- Minimum of 7 to 10 years of professional experience in an executive or senior-level financial role.
- Proven operational track record directly within the
- Trade Finance / Treasury department of an international commodity trading company
- (handling bulk cargo, vrac, heavy industry, or construction materials) OR as a Senior Trade Finance Manager/Officer within a reputable international corporate bank.
- Extensive, firsthand experience in managing and executing
- Back-to-Back and Transferable LC setups
- , specifically tailored to independent exporter/trader business models.
Technical & Soft Skills
- **Technical Expert:**
- In-depth, flawless understanding of Incoterms 2020, UCP 600, international maritime documentation, and trade finance legalities.
- **Languages:**
- Native-level or completely fluent professional English (written and spoken) is an absolute requirement.
- Fluency in Arabic and French will be considered a highly valuable asset.
- **Mindset:**
- Exceptionally methodical, detail-oriented, analytical, and highly autonomous.
- Must possess the professional gravitas required to negotiate directly with bank directors and executive-level suppliers.
