About AUM Fintech

AUM Fintech is the operating entity of AUM Group, regulated by Dubai’s Virtual Assets Regulatory Authority (VARA) as a Category 1 Virtual Asset Service Provider.

We build institutional-grade tokenisation infrastructure for gold, pairing ERC-20 fungibility with full bar-level bullion provenance.

We sit at the intersection of precious metals, capital markets, and digital asset regulation, with operations spanning ADGM, DIFC, DWTC, and DMCC.

The Opportunity

As we transition toward full VARA operational status and product launch, we are looking to appoint a Chief Financial Officer to lead the firm’s finance function.

This is a designated senior management role under VARA’s Fit & Proper regime, reporting to the Board of AUM Fintech with administrative reporting to the CEO, and accountable for the firm’s financial governance, capital adequacy, and regulatory financial reporting obligations under the VARA Rulebooks.

You will not be inheriting a finance function.

You will be building it.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own the firm’s financial governance framework, internal controls, and accounting policies in line with IFRS and the VARA Company Rulebook;
  • Maintain ongoing compliance with VARA’s prudential and capital adequacy requirements, including base capital, ongoing capital, liquidity, and wind-down funding obligations;
  • Design and operate the firm’s financial control environment, including segregation of duties, treasury controls, expense authorisation, and reserve management;
  • Lead the audit relationship - selection, engagement, planning, and delivery of the firm’s annual statutory audit and any VARA-mandated assurance engagements;
  • Oversee preparation and timely submission of all VARA regulatory financial returns, prudential reporting, and audited financial statements;
  • Own the firm’s budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning cycle, including scenario modelling for product launch, token issuance volumes, and reserve economics;
  • Maintain treasury policy and oversight of operational cash, fiat reserves, and segregated client money or token reserve accounts in coordination with custodians and banking partners;
  • Provide financial sign-off on new products and material business changes, including capital impact assessments and reserve adequacy reviews;
  • Lead corporate finance workstreams across the group - fundraising support, investor reporting, intercompany arrangements, and transfer pricing across ADGM, DIFC, DWTC, and DMCC entities;
  • Manage tax compliance across UAE Corporate Tax, VAT, and economic substance requirements, coordinating with external advisors;
  • Deliver Board-level financial reporting, including monthly management accounts, quarterly Board packs, and the Annual Financial Statements;
  • Maintain the firm’s banking, custody, and payment service provider relationships, ensuring continuity of critical financial infrastructure;
  • Coordinate with the CCO, MLRO, and CRO on financial crime controls, sanctions screening of counterparties, and risk-based onboarding of banking partners.

Required Qualifications

  • and Experience
  • Minimum 10-12 years’ finance experience in regulated financial services, fintech, or virtual assets, with at least 4 years in a senior finance role (CFO, Deputy CFO, Finance Director, or equivalent);
  • Qualified accountant - ACA, ACCA, CPA, CA, or equivalent recognised professional qualification - in good standing;
  • Prior approval - or clear approvability - by a recognised regulator: VARA, DFSA, FSRA (ADGM), CBUAE, FCA, MAS, FINMA, BaFin, or equivalent;
  • Demonstrable working knowledge of the VARA Company Rulebook prudential framework and Category 1 ARVA capital adequacy obligations;
  • Direct experience with virtual assets, tokenisation, stablecoins, or digital asset custody - including reserve management, proof-of-reserves frameworks, or attestation processes;
  • Deep IFRS technical fluency, including IAS 32 / IFRS 9 (financial instruments), IFRS 15 (revenue), and the accounting treatment of digital assets and tokenised instruments;
  • Proven track record managing Big Four audit relationships and delivering clean audit outcomes;
  • Strong working knowledge of UAE Corporate Tax, VAT, transfer pricing, and economic substance requirements across UAE free zones and financial free zones;
  • Bachelor’s degree minimum; CFA, MBA, or finance-related postgraduate qualification preferred;
  • Clean regulatory and criminal record - no censures, prohibitions, or material disciplinary findings;
  • UAE residency or genuine willingness to relocate to Dubai

Candidate Profile

  • VARA assesses candidates across honesty and integrity, competence and capability, and financial soundness.
  • We are looking for someone who will demonstrate:
  • Honesty and integrity - Unblemished professional record, transparent personal financial standing, no undisclosed conflicts, and a documented history of acting in the regulatory interest even when commercially inconvenient;
  • Competence and capability - Specific, evidenced VA/fintech/banking finance experience that can be articulated in regulator-grade detail; an ability to discuss capital adequacy, reserve accounting, and tokenised-asset financial reporting precisely rather than in generalities; a track record of building (not just inheriting and administering) finance functions;
  • Financial soundness - Personal financial affairs that withstand regulator scrutiny, with no undischarged bankruptcies, judgement debts, or patterns of default;
  • Independence of mind - The seniority and political capital to challenge the founders, CEO, and Board on capital, reserves, and financial risk when required;
  • Local regulatory fluency - Direct prior engagement with a UAE regulator is strongly preferred; established working relationships within the VARA, ADGM FSRA, DFSA, or CBUAE ecosystem are a significant advantage;
  • Stamina - Comfort operating in a regulated start-up environment where rulebook interpretation, capital planning, and launch execution are happening in parallel.

What We Offer

  • A foundational seat at a serious institutional virtual asset issuer at the moment of regulatory ignition;
  • Direct Board exposure and meaningful long-term participation (subject to role and grade);
  • Competitive, UAE-tax-free compensation package;
  • A multi-jurisdictional remit across the UAE’s leading financial centres;
  • The opportunity to build the finance function for one of the region’s flagship tokenised real-world asset platforms.
