Role Summary
The individual in this position will be responsible for overseeing the financial operations of the company through the establishment of planning systems, preparation of reports, and enhancement of financial discipline and coordination of financial governance across various organizational units to ensure financial sustainability and compliance with regulatory frameworks while aligning with the company's long-term strategic goals.
Key Tasks
- Strategy and Objectives
- Contribute to the development and refinement of the company's vision, mission, and strategy
- Develop a financial management plan and budget that aligns with the company's strategy
- Ensure effective participation and understanding of the financial management strategy at all levels
- Set performance objectives for financial management and monitor progress towards achieving them continuously
- Provide advice to the CEO on issues that have strategic implications for the company
Organization, Resources, and Monitoring
- Recommend the structure and resources necessary for financial management to execute operations and achieve strategy effectively
- Ensure the availability of necessary rates or technical factors to support operational efficiency
- Approve the annual budget for financial management and ensure alignment with plans and needs
- Approve financial management policies and ensure compliance with all necessary requirements and adherence to systems and regulations
- Create a system for monitoring execution and performance
- Make key decisions related to financial management and escalate them to the CEO when necessary
Operational Responsibilities
- Develop a financial planning framework to ensure alignment of financing strategies with the company's priorities and objectives in the long term to ensure coherent capital allocation and achieve financial sustainability
- Lead long-term forecasting and prepare the annual budget to support financial planning and prioritize resources
- Design strategic financial models to simulate scenarios and support data-driven decision-making regarding growth, investment, and risk mitigation
- Establish credit policies and criteria for assessing clients' creditworthiness to manage exposure to financial risks within acceptable limits of the company and its commercial objectives
- Establish tax strategies and policies to ensure compliance and mitigate risks while enhancing the company's tax position across various jurisdictions
- Lead payroll processes to ensure timely disbursement and apply tax withholding while ensuring accuracy of budgets
- Oversee the invoice lifecycle to ensure accuracy of entries, approvals, classifications, and minimize instances of delayed payments and financial errors
- Lead accounts receivable operations to ensure proactive collection and resolution of disputes while coordinating with clients
- Oversee the management of the general ledger and fixed asset accounting to ensure accuracy of financial records and traceability of assets while adhering to accounting standards
- Lead the management of bank accounts and reconciliation procedures to ensure alignment between cash records and bank statements
- Lead the implementation of cash flow analyses to maintain liquidity and prepare for short- and medium-term financing needs
- Lead financial coordination mechanisms among various organizational units to ensure strategic alignment in planning, reporting, accounting, collection, and ensuring consistency
- Enhance transparency in financial reporting and documentation required for auditing and internal review processes in coordination with internal audit management to ensure compliance with financial oversight frameworks and regulatory requirements in the company
- Lead performance monitoring processes in terms of budgets and forecasts to ensure adaptability and enhance financial resilience
- Provide insights on variance analysis between budget forecasts and actual performance to guide strategic adjustments and responsive financial planning
- Lead the implementation of compliance controls through ensuring accuracy of financial records and traceability in periodic updates and identifying issues
- Oversee internal financial reporting practices to provide transparent and timely insights that support executive decision-making
- Lead updates to accounting and tax practices in response to emerging risks or regulatory changes or audit findings to ensure swift and effective responses and integrity
People Management
- Inspire the team and provide guidance and direction to instill a performance-driven culture
- Lead workforce planning processes for financial management and ensure team competency through recruitment, training, development, performance management, and maintaining a high level of engagement and retention
Educational Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Financial Management, or any related field
- Master's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Financial Management, or any related field
Experience
· Minimum of 13 years of experience in a related field, including 6 years in a leadership role
Certifications
- Preferred to hold certifications in Management Accounting (CMA), Financial Modeling (FMVA), Financial Planning (CFP), or Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA)
- Must hold a Diploma in International Financial Reporting Standards (DipIFR) from the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA)
