Role Overview
The Chief Business Officer – Broadcast Business (CBO – B) will hold full commercial and P&L accountability for the core business interests in the broadcast services industry. The incumbent will design and execute growth strategies focused on securing long term broadcast services related mandates, driving turnkey broadcast engineering contracts, and maximizing the commercial utilization and ROI of major capital assets (OB Vans, flyaway kits, and specialized equipment) across Sports, Media, and Entertainment, as well as the Public & Social Sectors verticals in India as well as overseas.
A deep understanding of broadcast and media technology, technical bidding ecosystems, and a strong professional network within the Sports, Media, Entertainment, Public & Social sector industries are essential for any individual to be considered for this role.
Strong business / commercial experience in global broadcast related organizations will be an added advantage for any individual interested in this role.
Key Responsibility Areas include but are not limited to:
1. Business Development & Revenue Growth
· Drive overall business development performance, revenue growth, profitability, and P&L management across our broadcast services related business interests in India as well as overseas.
· Lead business development initiatives to secure multi-year technical production mandates, broadcast engineering contracts, and strategic accounts across broadcasters, OTT platforms, sports federations, production houses, government and social sector organizations.
· Expand the product and service portfolio while identifying and commercializing new revenue streams, market segments, and geographic opportunities.
2. Strategic Alliances & Market Expansion
· Build and strengthen strategic relationships with key industry stakeholders in India as well as overseas, including international broadcasters, interactional sporting federations, media organizations, technology partners, government agencies, and social sector organizations.
· Lead the identification, evaluation, and acquisition of opportunities such as large-scale systems integration, studio infrastructure build, and broadcast transformation projects across the private, public, and social sector enterprises.
· Negotiate high-value commercial agreements, partnerships, SLAs, and long-term contracts that drive business growth while mitigating commercial and operational risks.
3. Technology & Innovation
· Build and strengthen future-ready technology capabilities aligned with the evolving broadcast, media, and digital content ecosystem.
· Partner with engineering and technical teams to develop innovative service offerings that enhance viewer experience and create new business opportunities.
4. Operational Excellence & Asset Optimization
· Drive operational efficiency, scalability, and governance across business operations to ensure consistent service delivery and customer satisfaction.
· Maximize the commercial utilization, productivity, and return on investment of capital-intensive assets, including OB Vans, flyaway systems, production infrastructure, and specialized broadcast equipment.
· Collaborate with engineering, logistics, finance, and operations teams to align commercial commitments with delivery capabilities, resource planning, and long-term capital investment strategies.
The ideal candidate will have:
· ~ 20 years of progressive commercial and business leadership experience within the Broadcast Services, Broadcast Engineering, Sports Infrastructure, or high-end Media Technology industry, with a substantial portion spent in an executive leadership capacity.
· A master’s degree in finance / marketing / Sports Management from a premier, reputed business school (Tier I or Tier II).
· An undergraduate academic background in electronic engineering will be an added advantage.
· Explicit, hands-on experience in negotiating and closing complex, high-value B2B technical services contracts, evaluating asset-heavy cost models, and steering large-scale technical projects.
· A robust, deeply established C-suite and decision-maker network across major international sports federations, television networks, streaming platforms, and broadcast production entities globally.
· Exceptional cross-functional leadership capability, with a proven track record of bridging the gap between highly technical engineering teams and core business growth objectives.
