Overview
Chief Accountant \| Dubai, UAE \| Advanced Aerospace \| Audit/Accounting
The Chief Accountant is responsible for overseeing all accounting operations within the company, ensuring accurate recording of financial transactions, compliance with regulatory requirements, effective internal control and protection of company’s assets.
The role plays a critical part in supporting strategic decision-making by providing timely and reliable financial information while managing accounting processes.
The role also requires strong technical expertise, excellent communication skills, and the ability to operate in a fast-paced, rigorous and deadline-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the accounting activities, including general ledger, fixed assets, inventories, payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable
- Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
- Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards (IFRS), tax laws and finance related regulations
- Maintain and improve internal controls to safeguard company’s assets
- Coordinate and manage external audits and liaise with auditors and regulatory authorities
- Ensure timely and accurate tax filings (including VAT and Corporate taxes) and regulatory reporting
- Develop and implement accounting policies and procedures
- Provide required inputs to the FP&A Lead for the preparation of high-quality financial presentations
Required
- 10 to 15 years of experience in Audit and Accounting, of which at least 5 years as Chief Accountant and at least 7 years in the UAE (of which the experience as Chief Accountant)
- Experience in a multinational company with a strong culture of compliance to international accounting standards (IFRS), respect of deadlines and adherence to procedures
- Experience in a Big 4 firm (3 to 5 years)
- Industry background: aviation, automotive, other CapEx intensive industry
- ERP knowledge (Microsoft Dynamics, SAP, Oracle)
- Fluency in English (written and spoken)
- Education: relevant qualification in Accounting (ACCA, CPA or equivalent)
