Role Overview
Athena Coding is hiring a chess instructor for a one-day camp serving school-age students in West Windsor–Plainsboro, New Jersey.
The instructor will lead structured chess lessons and activities in a reliable, energetic, and student-focused manner.
Date and Schedule
- The assignment is Monday, September 21, 2026, from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
- Applicants must be available for the full session.
Workplace
- The camp will be held in person at Grover Middle School in West Windsor–Plainsboro, New Jersey.
Responsibilities
- Teach chess lessons and lead practice games and activities.
- Explain chess rules, basic strategies, and good sportsmanship.
- Manage the classroom in a safe, positive, and organized way.
- Keep students engaged and on task throughout the camp.
- Communicate professionally with Athena staff and site staff.
- Arrive on time and remain dependable for the full session.
Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of chess rules and basic strategy is required.
- Applicants should be comfortable leading groups of students and demonstrate strong communication skills and reliability.
- Experience working with children is preferred.
- Teaching, camp, tutoring, or coaching experience is helpful.
Compensation
- Pay is $30–$40 per hour, depending on experience and chess teaching expertise.
