The role
Test robotic synthesis systems by running test syntheses and validating hardware, firmware, and software against real chemistry.
Provide a hands-on link between laboratory work and the engineers developing the platform.
Key responsibilities
- Set up and run test syntheses and experiments on robotic synthesis systems.
- Prepare reagents, load and operate the platform, and follow protocols safely and accurately.
- Validate hardware, firmware, and software behavior against expected chemical outcomes.
- Record results, log issues, and send reproducible feedback to engineering teams.
- Help develop and refine test procedures and acceptance criteria.
- Support routine maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting of systems.
Requirements
- A chemistry or related science qualification, such as HNC/HND or BSc, or equivalent hands-on laboratory experience.
- Practical wet-lab experience with reagent preparation, reactions, and protocols.
- Careful, methodical working and rigorous record-keeping.
- Comfort with automated equipment and willingness to learn robotics and software.
- Strong awareness of laboratory health and safety.
Beneficial skills
- Experience with automated or high-throughput laboratory systems is beneficial.
- Familiarity with analytical techniques such as HPLC, LC-MS, or NMR is beneficial.
- Basic data logging or scripting, such as Python, is beneficial.
- Exposure to a regulated or quality-controlled laboratory environment is beneficial.
