Role overview

Catering operations

• Support the management team, Head Chef, and Supervisor with smooth catering operations and team coordination.
• Assist with staff scheduling, resource allocation, ordering, and stock control.
• Deliver friendly, professional service across front of house, kitchen, breakfast, and events.
• Lead Monday–Friday breakfast service, including setup, cash handling, and cashing up.
• Ensure menus, TV screens, and front-of-house areas are ready for service.

Service standards and events

• Maintain food quality, hygiene, cleanliness, health and safety, and personal presentation standards.
• Ensure services meet Sodexo and client standards, including Safeguard audit requirements.
• Support evening and weekend functions and school holiday events as required.
• Respond appropriately to customer feedback, complaints, incidents, and other irregularities.
• Complete duties within required timescales and attend relevant training and meetings.

Essential requirements

• Demonstrable experience in a similar catering or hospitality role.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a clear, confident, and effective leadership style.
• Excellent time management and organizational skills.
• Ability to analyze problems, identify opportunities, and implement effective solutions.
• Positive, flexible, professional, and collaborative approach to colleagues, customers, and clients.
• Strong customer and client focus and commitment to excellent service.

Desirable qualifications

• IOSH Safety Management qualification is desirable.
• CIEH Level 2 or 3 Food Hygiene qualification is desirable.

Pay and contract

• Pay is £13.80 per hour.
• The contract is 38 weeks, for 35 hours per week.

Hours and shifts

• Monday–Friday, 7:30am–3:00pm.
• Evening and weekend work may be required depending on business needs, including school holiday events.

Workplace

• The role is based at Edinburgh Academy Senior School, 42 Henderson Row, Edinburgh, EH3 5BL.
