Responsibilities
- Full ownership over category management including assortments, pricing, offers, and supply
- Monitor economic performance of assigned departments/categories across sales, gross margin, and P&L
- Ensure implementation of commercial strategy and pricing guidelines
- Provide input to Ops team on flows, adjacencies, tools, and fixtures
- Review and resolve issues with local suppliers
- Define and maintain local assortment, integrate basic assortment for departments/categories
- Select local suppliers, negotiate and purchase in line with cost, discounts, and payment terms
- Price items based on guidelines and conduct market price audits
- Identify local promo products, develop promotion calendar, and ensure execution
Requirements
- Minimum 4 to 5 years of experience in Fresh Fruit & Vegetables within the Qatar retail market
- Proven track record of managing multiple product categories in a large retail or FMCG environment
- Demonstrated ability to drive category growth through assortment optimization, innovation, and seasonal planning
- Strong capability to analyze market trends, customer buying behavior, and competitor activities
- Experience in monitoring supplier performance and negotiating with local suppliers
- Detail oriented, structured, and able to prioritize
- Willingness to work hands on including warehouse floor and customer deliveries
- Fluent English and Arabic highly advantageous

Role Summary
- We are looking for a Category Manager F&V to join the team in Qatar and focus on growing our own Grocery Store 'tMart', offering 30 minute delivery of groceries at hypermarket prices.
What’s On Your Plate?
- Full Ownership over the category management role in terms of Assortments, Pricing, Offers and Supply.
- Responsible for monitoring economic performance of the assigned departments/categories across sales, gross margin, profit and loss.
- Ensuring proper implementation of the commercial strategy and strategic guidelines.
- Providing input to the Ops team flows, adjacencies, tools and templates, fixtures, etc.
- Reviewing and resolving any issues with local suppliers.
Assortment
- Ensuring cost efficiency across our consumers that meets their needs/wants.
- Defining and maintaining the local assortment and integrating the basic assortment for the department/categories.
- Providing regional teams with information regarding products and quantities needed for international and regional contracts.
- Selecting local suppliers, negotiating and purchasing in line with expected needs guided by standards such as cost price, discounts, rebates, payment terms, etc.
Price
- Pricing the items based on pricing guidelines and recommended prices for PL/Imported items.
- Collecting market prices and conducting country price audits.
Promos
- Identifying local promo products and pricing each item and submitting forecasting/relevant reordering information to replenishment.
- Developing the country promotion calendar.
- Following up and ensuring effective execution of all activities required for each promotional event.
- Analysing and providing inputs for more effective promotional activities such as consumer preferences, local competitors and trends.
What Did We Order?
- Minimum 4 to 5 years of experience in Fresh Fruit & Vegetables (F&V) within the Qatar retail market is a must.
- Demonstrated ability to drive category growth through assortment optimization, innovation, and seasonal planning.
- Strong capability to analyze market trends, customer buying behavior, and competitor activities.
- Experience in monitoring supplier performance based on quality, service levels, pricing, and delivery.
- You have built teams and led cross functional projects at scale.
- You are very detail oriented, structured and know how to prioritize.
- You are willing to do anything necessary for the project to succeed, including working on the warehouse floor when short staffed, making a customer delivery, or taking customer calls.
- You are able to interact with senior level executives and manage the expectations of multiple stakeholders.
- You have robust interpersonal and intercultural skills.
- Language skills: Fluent English and Arabic would be highly advantageous.
