CASHIER

Position Summary

Core Responsibilities

• Receive payments and issue receipts, refunds, credits, and change.
• Count cash drawers, maintain low cash drawers, use the safe as instructed, and report cash discrepancies.
• Greet customers, answer questions, resolve complaints, and provide prompt and courteous service.
• Establish or identify prices, calculate totals, process returns and exchanges, and record all sales at purchase.
• Reconcile sales and transaction totals and complete shift-checkout reports according to company procedures.
• Stock shelves, mark prices, prepare packages, sell tickets or other items, and provide carry-out service.
• Monitor checkout stations, follow vendor check-in procedures, and maintain operational records.
• Clean checkout areas, carts, floors, shelves, windows, parking lots, and surrounding grounds.

Requirements

• High school graduate or GED.
• No prior experience is needed.
• Access to a phone at all times.
• Ability to read and understand equipment operating instructions.
• Ability to operate a cash register for up to eight hours or longer.
• Ability to lift 25 pounds at least once during a shift.
• Good oral communication and basic math skills.
• Ability to stand frequently, handle items frequently, and work under assigned shift conditions.

Work Environment and Schedule

• Work is performed in a grocery environment.
• The schedule is flexible, with shift hours assigned by the Store Manager or Assistant Manager.
• No travel is required and no positions are supervised.
