CAD Technician

Role overview

Drawing and project work

• Create and revise detailed AutoCAD drawings and produce 2D and 3D geotechnical project drawings.
• Prepare site plans, trial pit logs, borehole logs, cross-sections, geotechnical profiles, sections, and geological models.
• Review checker markups, verify drawing changes, maintain drawing quality, and complete required self-checks.
• Perform CAD-based material take-offs using Excel and contribute design input and solutions to potential issues.
• Organize and update drawing files in common data environments; improve CAD workflows and standardization.
• Report progress, schedule or budget considerations, risks, and concerns to supervisors and project teams.
• Manage multiple project scopes and time estimates; support quality, health and safety, and sustainability practices.

Qualifications and experience

• Diploma or bachelor's degree in civil engineering.
• Four or more years of CAD-tool experience is preferred.
• Strong understanding of geotechnical drawings and familiarity with geotechnical terminology.
• Strong English communication skills and ability to work with multidisciplinary teams.
• Organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.

Software and tools

• AutoCAD and Civil 3D proficiency are specified; MicroStation proficiency is also listed.
• BIM tools include Revit and Navisworks; common data environments include ProjectWise, BIM 360, and Autodesk Construction Cloud.
• Material take-offs are performed using CAD tools and Excel.
