About the Role
The incumbent, as a Butcher at GMG, will be responsible for preparation, cutting, and processing of meat products according to established standards, in a safe, efficient, and hygienic manner while ensuring quality, freshness, and customer satisfaction.
The role includes tasks such as butchering, deboning, portioning, and packaging meat according to specifications.
The incumbent should have expertise in meat cutting techniques, knowledge of various cuts, and a commitment to maintaining high standards of hygiene and safety.
The incumbent in this role ensures that all products meet quality standards, follow food safety regulations, and maintain cleanliness in the production area while meeting daily production targets.
Key Responsibilities
- Cut, trim, and prepare meat according to production requirements and quality standards.
- Ensure proper portioning, product quality, freshness, and compliance with hygiene and safety regulations.
- Maintain cleanliness in the work area and handle equipment safely.
- Monitor inventory levels and report shortages or excess stock.
- Meet daily production targets while minimizing waste and maximizing efficiency.
- Lead, train, and support the butchery team to ensure strong performance and development.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety standards and continuously improve processes.
- Coordinate with other departments to support smooth operations and timely delivery.
Required skills & Qualifications
- At least 1 - 2 years of experience in food processing industry, mainly working with red meat (beef).
- Able to work in a +/- cold degree temperature.
- Basic knowledge of food safety & hygiene standards.
- High school diploma or technical qualification.
- Good communication skills.
