Business Development Manager UK and Ireland

Key Responsibilities:

• Business Development & Market Growth
• Identify and secure new business opportunities throughout the UK and Ireland.
• Develop and maintain a robust pipeline of projects from early identification through to contract award.
• Increase market share within target sectors including:
• Marine and ports
• Flood defence and coastal protection
• Infrastructure and transport
• Energy and renewables
• Water and environmental projects
• Commercial and residential developments
• Develop strategic account plans for key customers and target accounts.
• Project & Specification Development:
• Engage with consulting engineers, designers, clients, and contractors at the earliest stages of project development.
• Promote steel sheet piling as the preferred retaining and foundation solution.
• Influence project specifications and technical designs in favour of company products and solutions.
• Support customers with technical and commercial presentations alongside engineering colleagues.
• Monitor upcoming projects through industry networks, planning applications, framework agreements, and market intelligence.
• Customer Relationship Management:
• Establish and maintain strong relationships with:
• Main contractors
• Specialist piling contractors
• Consulting engineers
• Government agencies
• Local authorities
• Framework procurement teams
• Act as a trusted advisor within the industry.
• Maintain regular customer visits
• Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction and repeat business.
• Commercial & Tender Support:
• Support preparation of quotations, proposals, and tender submissions.
• Negotiate commercial agreements and supply arrangements.
• Work closely with sales, logistics, and operations teams to ensure successful project delivery.
• Maintain awareness of pricing trends, competitor activity, and market developments.
• Market Intelligence & Strategy:
• Monitor competitor activity, market dynamics, and emerging opportunities.
• Identify industry trends that may impact the business.
• Provide regular feedback to management regarding market developments and customer requirements.
• Contribute to annual business planning and growth strategies.
• Industry Representation:
• Represent the company at industry events, exhibitions, conferences, and technical seminars.
• Promote the company's brand, expertise, and sustainability credentials.
• Develop relationships with industry bodies and key market influencers.
• Qualifications & Experience:
• Essential
• 10 years' experience in the same industry
• Engineering degree, ideally Civil Engineering
• Proven track record in business development, sales, or account management.
• Strategic Business Development
• Strong understanding of the construction and civil engineering sectors.
• Experience managing complex customer relationships and projects.
• Excellent commercial, negotiation, and communication skills.
• Full UK driving licence
