Bus Mechanic

Hertz is hiring an experienced Diesel Bus Mechanic to join our team.

In this role, you will perform a wide range of bus maintenance and repair work, from routine preventative maintenance to advanced diagnostics and repairs.

The ideal candidate is dependable, safety-focused, and experienced working with diesel engines, transmissions, electrical systems, brakes, suspension, and air conditioning systems.

Wage: $30.00/hour + monthly incentives, varies based on job performance

Bonus: $5000; $2500 paid at 6 months of employment; $2500 at 12 months of employment

• Perform preventative maintenance and inspections on buses and related fleet vehicles
• Diagnose and repair diesel engines and transmissions
• Troubleshoot electrical issues and complete necessary repairs
• Perform oil changes and general maintenance services
• Service air brake and suspension systems
• Diagnose and repair air conditioning systems
• Maintain accurate service records and follow all safety procedures
• Support fleet readiness by ensuring vehicles are safe, reliable, and ready for operation

• High school diploma or GED required
• Must be at least 25 years old
• 3–5 years of bus repair or diesel fleet maintenance experience
• Valid driver’s license
• CDL with passenger and air brake endorsements required
• Must have your own tools
• ASE certification preferred
• Ability to work days, nights, weekends, and flexible shifts as needed
