Role overview

Develop, evaluate, and coordinate high-performance building-envelope and façade systems for commercial, residential, industrial, and mixed-use developments.

The work combines façade engineering, building physics, material selection, structural performance, waterproofing, and construction coordination.

Collaborate with architects, engineers, contractors, fabricators, specialist consultants, and project managers to deliver durable, efficient, weather-resistant, and buildable solutions.

Design and coordination

  • Develop and review façade systems, curtain walls, cladding, glazing, and external-wall components; translate architectural concepts into feasible engineering solutions.
  • Assess constructability, durability, compliance, wind and dead loads, thermal movement, deflection, and support requirements.
  • Coordinate design with architecture, structural, mechanical, electrical, and building-services teams and resolve technical challenges with project stakeholders.
  • Evaluate glass, aluminum, steel, stone, precast concrete, composite panels, and insulation; prepare details, drawings, specifications, schedules, calculations, and documentation.
  • Review shop and fabrication drawings, installation details, technical submissions, supplier proposals, design changes, substitutions, and alternative materials.

Performance, testing, and site work

  • Assess air and water penetration, insulation, condensation, thermal bridging, solar heat gain, glazing, acoustic performance, and energy efficiency.
  • Coordinate waterproofing at joints, parapets, balconies, roofs, windows, and façade penetrations; review external-wall fire-safety considerations.
  • Support mock-ups and laboratory or site testing; review air-leakage, water-penetration, structural, and thermal test results.
  • Investigate façade defects, water ingress, sealant failures, cracking, corrosion, or material deterioration; recommend repairs and corrective actions.
  • Inspect sites to verify workmanship, materials, installation quality, and approved drawings; monitor progress and coordinate technical clarifications.
  • Prepare reports and compliance documents, participate in design reviews, technical meetings, workshops, and value engineering, and support tender scopes and cost assessments.
  • Maintain records of revisions, calculations, technical queries, inspection findings, and approvals; identify opportunities to improve design, quality, and performance.

Education and experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil, Structural, Building, or Architectural Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Relevant professional experience in façade engineering, building-envelope design, curtain walls, cladding, or external-wall construction.

Technical qualifications

  • Strong understanding of envelope principles, façade assemblies, material properties, and construction detailing.
  • Knowledge of façade structural behavior, wind loading, support systems, anchorage, movement accommodation, waterproofing, weatherproofing, airtightness, and moisture management.
  • Familiarity with thermal performance, insulation, condensation control, energy-efficient design, glazing, curtain walls, aluminum framing, cladding, and interfaces.
  • Ability to interpret drawings and specifications and prepare or review shop drawings, technical submissions, calculations, and specifications.
  • Familiarity with building codes, façade standards, fire-safety requirements, local regulations, and façade testing methods.

Tools and professional skills

  • Familiarity with AutoCAD and relevant drafting or design software; proficiency in Microsoft Office for documentation and coordination.
  • Revit, BIM coordination, or 3D modeling is advantageous; structural analysis and thermal simulation tools are beneficial.
  • Strong analytical thinking, engineering judgment, problem-solving, attention to detail, communication, and ability to manage multiple packages and deadlines.
  • Willingness to participate in site inspections, technical meetings, and façade testing as required.
  • Sustainable building certification knowledge and professional engineering registration or façade certifications are beneficial where applicable.

What the employer offers

  • Competitive salary and comprehensive employee benefits.
  • Work on diverse developments and innovative façade systems, materials, and envelope technologies.
  • Professional development, design tools, technical resources, industry knowledge-sharing, and collaboration with project and international supplier teams.
  • Opportunities to participate in façade testing, technical investigations, construction quality improvement, and sustainable building solutions.
  • Career development opportunities toward senior façade engineering, consultancy, design management, technical leadership, or building performance roles.

Compensation

  • The posting describes the salary as competitive but does not specify a pay cadence.

Workplace

  • Site inspections and construction coordination are part of the role.
