Roles and responsibilities
- Operate brake disc and drum skimming machines safely and efficiently.
- Measure discs and drums before machining and determine whether skimming is permitted under OEM specifications.
- Machine components to required finish and tolerances, including applicable on-car and off-car work.
- Inspect components for defects and identify brake noise, vibration, pulsation, or uneven braking concerns.
- Recommend replacement when limits are exceeded and verify completed work through measurements and testing.
- Coordinate with workshop staff, update job cards, and maintain machining and rejection records.
- Maintain machines and measuring equipment; conduct daily inspections and preventive maintenance.
- Support brake repairs, follow workshop quality and safety procedures, keep the work area clean, and follow lifting and waste-disposal requirements.
Candidate profile
- High School Certificate or equivalent.
- At least 2 years' experience operating brake disc and drum skimming machines.
- Technical or vocational Automotive Technology qualification is preferred.
- Passenger, light commercial, or heavy commercial vehicle experience is preferred.
- Familiarity with DaTo, Van Norman, Pro-Cut, or Ammco machines.
- Knowledge of automotive braking systems and ability to interpret OEM brake specifications.
- Proficiency with micrometers, dial gauges, vernier calipers, and precision measuring tools.
- Understanding of brake disc runout, thickness variation, and drum wear limits.
Pay
- Pay is AED 2,000–AED 2,500 per month.
