Job Purpose
To ensure the effective assessment, analysis, and management of biosecurity risks, and to develop standards and guidelines for veterinary services, pest control activities, and disease prevention in alignment with international best practices.
Administrative Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with organizational policies, procedures, and biosecurity strategies.
- Prepare periodic reports and submit them to the direct manager.
Coordination & Organizational Responsibilities
- Participate in meetings and committees as per the authority matrix.
- Foster a positive work environment and promote teamwork, innovation, and knowledge sharing.
- Coordinate effectively with internal departments and external stakeholders.
- Support the development of smart solutions and digital integration in line with government strategies.
- Contribute to staff training and capacity-building initiatives.
Technical Responsibilities
- Develop and implement biosecurity risk assessment standards and guidelines based on scientific principles.
- Design and maintain emergency preparedness, response, and contingency plans for plant and animal biosecurity risks.
- Conduct risk assessments for plant, animal, and aquatic health threats and recommend mitigation measures.
- Build and maintain a comprehensive biosecurity risk database and reporting system.
- Ensure compliance with international accreditation standards (e.g., ISO/IEC 17025).
- Provide technical advisory support and participate in international conferences.
- Monitor biosecurity trends and escalate critical risks to relevant committees.
- Manage laboratory bio-incidents, conduct root cause analysis, and implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Conduct audits and evaluations related to biosecurity risks across facilities.
- Support research teams and enhance coordination of biosecurity-related studies.
- Develop training programs and awareness initiatives related to biosecurity and biosafety.
- Ensure safe handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous biological materials.
- Support One Health initiatives and integration of plant, animal, and environmental health systems.
Qualifications & Experience
PhD in Animal Health, Plant Health, Food Safety, Risk Management, or a related field + 4 years of experience
or
Master’s degree in a relevant field + 6 years of experience
Bilingual (Fluency in English and Arabic).
