1. BIM Coordination and Model Management
- Coordinate architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and other relevant discipline models.
- Review federated models and ensure proper integration between all design disciplines.
- Conduct clash detection using appropriate BIM coordination software and issue clear coordination reports.
- Follow up with discipline teams to resolve clashes and design coordination issues within the agreed timeframe.
- Verify that models are developed in accordance with the approved project requirements, BIM standards, and required Level of Development (LOD).
- Ensure model consistency, naming conventions, file structure, work-sharing procedures, and data quality.
- Assist in reviewing BIM models before design submissions, authority submissions, tender packages, and IFC deliverables.
2. BIM Execution Plan (BEP)
- Assist in preparing, reviewing, and updating the
BIM Execution Plan (BEP)
- for each project.
- Support the development of BIM workflows, coordination procedures, model-sharing protocols, responsibilities, and approval processes.
- Ensure that the BEP is aligned with the Employer’s Information Requirements (EIR), project scope, client requirements, and internal company procedures.
- Assist in defining model structure, file naming, folder organization, model breakdown, LOD requirements, and Common Data Environment (CDE) workflows.
- Monitor compliance with the approved BEP throughout the project lifecycle.
- Recommend updates to the BEP when project requirements, deliverables, or coordination processes change.
3. Quality Control and Compliance
- Perform regular BIM model audits and quality checks.
- Verify compliance with approved BIM standards, templates, and project-specific requirements.
- Identify model inconsistencies, duplication, missing information, and coordination risks.
- Prepare model review comments and track corrective actions.
- Support the design team in achieving coordinated and technically accurate deliverables.
4. BIM Documentation and Reporting
- Prepare and maintain clash detection reports, issue logs, model review checklists, and BIM coordination trackers.
- Support the preparation of BIM progress reports for the Design Manager and project stakeholders.
- Maintain records of model submissions, revisions, comments, and coordination decisions.
- Assist in preparing BIM-related presentations, meeting materials, and technical reports.
- Participate in BIM coordination meetings and prepare action lists when required.
5. Knowledge Transfer and Team Development
- Support knowledge transfer to architects, engineers, BIM modelers, and other colleagues.
- Conduct internal BIM training sessions, workshops, and practical demonstrations.
- Provide day-to-day technical support to project teams using BIM software and workflows.
- Mentor junior BIM coordinators and BIM modelers.
- Develop or assist in preparing internal BIM guidelines, templates, checklists, and standard operating procedures.
- Share lessons learned and recommend improvements to the company’s BIM processes.
6. Design Management Support
- Support the Design Manager in monitoring BIM deliverables and coordination progress.
- Coordinating with discipline leads to ensure that BIM activities are aligned with the design schedule.
- Highlight potential delays, unresolved clashes, and technical risks that may affect project milestones.
- Assist in preparing BIM deliverable schedules and resource requirements.
- Coordinate with consultants, subconsultants, contractors, and client representatives when required.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Structural or MEP related field.
- Minimum 8+ years of experience as a BIM Coordinator, with proven expertise in BIM implementation, model coordination, clash detection, and collaboration across multidisciplinary construction projects.
- Experience in design consultancy, design-and-build, or large multidisciplinary projects
- Experience in coordinating deliverables of tender, IFC, Shop drawing and As built stages is preferred.
- Demonstrated experience in BIM coordination for architectural, structural, and MEP disciplines.
- Technical Skills in Revit , Naviswork Manage, ACC or BIM360 , Clash detection & coordination workflows , Model Federation .
- Practical experience in preparing or assisting with the preparation of BEP.
- Knowledge of Dynamo, Solibri, Power BI, AutoCAD, COBie requirements, where applicable and ISO 19650 workflows would be an advantage
- Strong knowledge of MIDP & TIDP is an advantage.
