Barista Job Description

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of experience working in a busy specialty coffee shop or café.
• Strong knowledge of coffee beans, origins, processing methods, extraction, and roasting fundamentals.
• Understanding of espresso preparation, dialing in, grinder adjustments, milk steaming, and latte art.
• Familiar with current coffee and beverage trends, including specialty coffee, matcha, seasonal drinks, and viral social media beverages.
• Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining consistency, quality, and attention to detail.
• Strong multitasking skills and ability to manage high-volume periods without compromising service standards.
• Excellent understanding of food safety, cleanliness, and café hygiene practices.
• Able to maintain equipment, perform daily cleaning routines, and identify basic machine issues.
• Friendly, professional, and customer-focused with strong communication skills.
• Team player with a positive attitude and willingness to assist in all areas of café operations.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with specialty coffee and manual brewing methods (V60).
• High knowledge of coffee roasting and how roasting profiles affect flavor.
• Experience creating and developing beverage recipes.
• Passion for coffee, continuous learning, and staying updated with industry trends.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure every drink is prepared consistently and presented beautifully.
• Maintain speed, accuracy, and quality during busy service periods.
• Monitor coffee quality, extraction, and milk texture throughout the day.
• Assist in inventory management and stock monitoring.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and professional workstation at all times.
• Deliver exceptional customer service and contribute to a positive café atmosphere.
