Bar Manager

Contract and hours

• This is a fixed-term contract until 3 January 2027.
• The role requires a minimum of 30 hours per week, with regular additional hours.
• Service charge is available on top of the hourly rate.

Role overview

Team leadership and guest service

• Lead and motivate the bar team; manage, train and onboard bar and agency team members on drinks, service standards and venue procedures.
• Train staff in cocktail preparation, product knowledge and responsible alcohol service.
• Resolve operational issues and coordinate with the Floor Manager during shifts.
• Maintain guest service standards, coach staff, encourage feedback and support responses to online and on-site reviews.
• Collaborate across departments to evaluate operations and implement improvements; handle complaints calmly and constructively.

Commercial and bar operations

• Support training plans, upselling and sales initiatives to improve drinks sales, spend per head and gross profit.
• Plan bar service for corporate bookings and private hires with the bookings team.
• Develop knowledge of ticketing and EPOS systems for efficient operations.
• Act as Manager on Duty on a rota, responsible for staff management, public and premises safety, security and health and safety.
• Manage bar operations and deliver fast, accurate service during peak periods and large bookings.
• Maintain drink quality and presentation; obtain approval before serving new or amended cocktails.
• Manage ordering, stock counts and wastage reporting; uphold the Monopoly brand in line with its licence.
• Deputise for the Restaurant Manager when required.

Candidate requirements

• Experience running a fast-paced, high-volume bar.
• A hands-on, charismatic and disciplined approach to leading a team.
• Ability to maintain consistent drinks quality and swift, accurate service during busy periods and corporate bookings.
• A calm, solution-focused approach to complaints.
