Role Overview
We are seeking an Azure Cloud Engineer with strong backend engineering and automation skills to design, develop, and maintain backend systems that support DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, and operations automation in Microsoft Azure.
This role is ideal for someone passionate about building reliable APIs, services, integrations, and automation workflows that improve deployment consistency, infrastructure management, monitoring, and operational efficiency across cloud-based environments.
This position requires someone who can work closely with IT operations, security, infrastructure, and application teams to modernize deployment processes, reduce manual effort, improve system reliability, and support scalable cloud operations through well-engineered automation and backend platform capabilities.
The ideal candidate has strong experience with backend development, Azure services, scripting and automation, source control, CI/CD tooling, infrastructure-as-code concepts, and secure software delivery practices.

Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain backend services, APIs, and integrations that support deployment automation and cloud operations.
- Build reusable CI/CD, infrastructure, and operational automation patterns using infrastructure-as-code and secure DevOps practices.
- Develop integrations across Azure services and enterprise platforms to improve deployment efficiency and reduce manual effort.
- Collaborate with infrastructure, security, operations, and application teams to modernize platform engineering capabilities.
- Improve platform reliability, performance, monitoring, and operational visibility across cloud environments.
- Maintain engineering standards through code reviews, testing, documentation, and continuous improvement activities.
- Stay current with emerging cloud, automation, platform engineering, and DevOps technologies.
Required Qualifications:
- Proficiency in programming and scripting languages such as C#,.NET, TypeScript, Python, and/or PowerShell.
- Experience designing and building backend services, APIs, integrations, and automation workflows.
- Experience building cloud-native solutions and supporting modern CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices for scalable, secure deployments.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Azure services and cloud-native patterns for application hosting, automation, integration, and operations.
- Understanding of source control practices and CI/CD tooling used to manage build, test, release, and deployment workflows.
- Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code concepts and repeatable environment management practices.
- Knowledge of databases (SQL, MongoDB and NoSQL) and data modeling.
- Understanding of monitoring, reliability, and operational support considerations in distributed systems.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Azure services used for backend integration and automation, such as App Service, Azure Functions, Logic Apps, API Management, and related platform services.
- Familiarity with containerization and orchestration (Docker/Kubernetes).
- Experience with observability, logging, and monitoring tools in cloud environments.
- Experience working in secure or regulated environments and collaborating closely with infrastructure, security, and operations teams.
- Experience implementing secure software delivery practices across development and deployment pipelines.
- Familiarity with or hands-on experience using AI-powered productivity tools to enhance efficiency, collaboration, and work quality strongly preferred.
- Pay Transparency: Pathstone’s expected starting base compensation range for the position as of the time of this posting is $105,000 - $130,000 per year. The actual base compensation selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including (but not limited to) experience, education, specialty and training. The successful candidate(s) may also be eligible for a discretionary bonus award.
